Let’s get into it!

When to expect v.35

  • Automation 360 v.35, the on-premises release, was Generally Available as of December 23, 2024.
  • Automation 360 Cloud will be updated between January 08, 2025 and the week of January 20, 2025.
  • Process Discovery A360.35.0 will be made available during the week of January 13, 2025.

Agentic AI advancements in v.35

We introduced AI Skills, which empower AI Agents to do specialized tasks, in v.33. Then, in v.34, we added RAG functionality when building AI Skills.

Now, v.35 lets you build AI Agents even faster with AI Skills templates. You can access pre-built AI Skills templates or create your own, and then customize, save, share, and reuse the templates across your organization. Pre-built AI Skills templates for use cases such as support ticket classification, marketing article generation, and introductory sales email give you a head start when building robust and scalable AI Agents and accelerate your time to value with agentic process automation.

Note that this AI Skills feature requires the Enterprise Platform license.

We’ve also added new features to Agentic Orchestration in this release that help you enhance process automation performance, scalability, and ease of use. These are:

  • Web Triggers that instantly trigger automations when SaaS events occur, ensuring timely and efficient process execution.
  • Connector Builder for On-Premises Control Rooms, a no-code tool to build and share integrations with any application with a REST API and seamlessly integrate diverse systems and applications in an easier, faster, and simpler way.
  • Real-Time Proactive View monitoring dashboard for real-time observability and a comprehensive view across all production automations, allowing you to scale and operate thousands of processes easily.

More generative AI and RAG capabilities in v.35

Generative AI and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) are two of the most impactful and value-driving AI-powered innovations making it into the enterprise. We’re excited that v.35 brings even more of this power to our Agentic Process Automation System.

AI Agent Studio now lets you connect to any generative AI model, including custom models. New generative AI models are rapidly being released from model vendors, and Automation Anywhere customers are even creating their own custom models. In release v.35, we’ve made it easy to connect to these models and use them within your AI Skills and agents so you can put the latest generative AI innovations to work to create the most effective agentic process automations.

Note that this requires the Enterprise Platform license.

AI Agent Studio now enables you to use AAI Enterprise Knowledge RAG for grounded automations and AI Skills. AAI Enterprise Knowledge is our native RAG solution. Using your company data to augment LLMs, RAG helps generative AI models create more meaningful outputs and mitigate hallucinations.

Note that this feature requires the Enterprise Platform and AAI Enterprise Knowledge licenses.

New Vision-Powered GenAI extraction improves data extraction accuracy in v.35. Most text-based generative AI models fall short when used to extract data from complex tables with nested elements or merged columns. Document Automation integration with vision-based generative AI models like GPT-4o and Anthropic now lets you unlock the power of vision-based AI extraction to automate complex document processing tasks. This new feature enhances accuracy and reduces the need for manual intervention, allowing you to focus on more strategic initiatives.

Note that this feature requires the Document Automation license.

Expanded power for desktop automations, security, and more in v.35

This release enhances the reliability when automating desktop applications that use the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF). This expands automation coverage by giving CEF applications the same reliability and performance as traditional web apps. Developers can also leverage JavaScript in desktop CEF applications to improve the reliability of the automations, such as by automatically closing unexpected pop-ups.

Document and Process Automations now provide insights to track real-time value gains within CoE Manager. This includes monitoring the ROI of end-to-end process automation that combines the best of RPA Bots, API Tasks, Document Automation, and more. You can even measure the impact of process automation on your bottom line, helping you make informed decisions and optimize operations.

Note that these features require the CoE Manager or CoE Manager Plus license.

Additional updates in v.35 include:

  • Optimization of automation execution with deployment queue enhancements. Automatic queueing ensures automations are instantly added to the deployment queue upon a targeted device becoming unavailable so it can be executed when the device becomes available. This makes the overall deployment process more efficient since users do not have to manually redeploy the automations upon device recovery. Newly introduced queue cleanup also automatically moves unprocessed items to the historical activity list, reducing delays and enhancing deployment efficiency.
  • Efficient management of automation execution recordings. In the v.32 release, we announced the Record Execution Feature to record automation executions and upload critical information to the control room that can help you debug automation failures. In v.35, we’ve made this feature even more robust with the ability to effectively manage these recordings, including retries on device restart in case of an upload failure, deleting older recordings to free up local storage, and maintaining an efficient local file system. Note that this feature requires the Enterprise Platform license.
  • Expand security through integration with ARCON, a new key vault vendor. Automation 360 already supports several external key vault providers such as AWS, CyberArk, Azure, and HashiCorp. With v.35, we are adding support for ARCON for on-premises deployments, specifically for auto-login use cases. There’s also now more flexibility and choice, enhancing security and expanding our reach to other regulatory environments.
